After much delay in the release of ‘Emergency’, the film is finally set to hit the screens on January 17, 2025. It’s the year where it will be 50 years since the emergency was declared in 1975. It was supposed to get into theatres in September but faced issues with the censor board for certification. It was given a U/A certificate and 13 cuts were suggested finally. Now ahead of the release, Kangana has released the second trailer of the movie which looked fiery and hard-hitting. She has also directed the movie apart from playing the lead.
Kangana’s transformation as Indira Gandhi will already leave you stunned as her voice, body language depicts how she’s soaked herself into this character. The film of course promises a lot more. But the trailer takes us through how Gandhi had declared an ‘Emergency’ in India in 1975 as she says, ‘Main hi Cabinet Hoon’. She then calls it a ‘war against the kauravas’. The trailer promises that the film will show this untold story in history.
Talking about it, Kangana said, “After a long journey filled with challenges, I’m glad that our film Emergency will finally hit the big screen on 17th January. This story isn’t just about a controversial leader; it delves into themes that remain profoundly relevant today, making the journey both difficult and significant. Releasing just a week before Republic Day, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the resilience of our Constitution and experience the film with your loved ones.”
‘Emergency’ also stars Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Milind Soman as Sam Maneckshaw, Mahima Choudhary as Pupul Jayakar. It also sees the late Satish Shah for the last time on screen. He plays the role of Jagjivan Ram.
