The mega musical event is going to engulf Navi Mumbai in its embrace as the global band Coldplay is set to hit the city. The Coldplay concert is scheduled to happen at Dr. D.Y. Patil Stadium, Nerul on January 18, 19, and 21. Everyone is super excited, and amid the anticipation, there are high chances of chaos owing to the popularity of the band; thus, Navi Mumbai traffic authorities have announced certain protocols that one is required to follow.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Tirupati Kakade, has issued an order under the Motor Vehicles Act, Sections 115, 116(1)(a)(b), and 117. This means that heavy vehicles are restricted in the city on specific concert dates (on January 18, 19, and 21 from 2 pm to 12 am each day). In addition to that, all types of heavy and goods-carrying vehicles are also banned from entering, moving, or parking on any roads within the jurisdiction of the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate.
It is worth noting that vehicles carrying essential goods, fire brigades, ambulances, and government automobiles are exempted.
According to the Free Press Journal, DCP Kakade has stated “Commuters are advised to plan their routes accordingly on the concert dates and avoid roads near the stadium during the restricted hours. Adequate arrangements to facilitate the movement of emergency and essential services during this period will be made.”
Coldplay is set to make a historic return to India with their much-anticipated performances. This will be their first concert in the country since 2016. In addition to the shows in Mumbai, they will also perform at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26, 2025. Initially, there was only one show planned for Ahmedabad, but a second date was added due to overwhelming demand from fans.
In preparation for the concerts in Ahmedabad, a notice was sent to Chris Martin and the event organizers, advising them against using children on stage in any capacity. According to NDTV, the organizers have also been instructed to ensure that no children can enter the concert venue without proper ear protection, such as earplugs.
