Ramya backs Rashmika Mandanna amid ‘Hyderabad’ remark row: ‘Stop this culture of trolling’

Rashmika Mandanna has landed in controversy after stating, “I am from Hyderabad” during a promotional event for her upcoming film Chhaava. The remark sparked backlash from sections of Kannada audiences, who accused her of distancing herself from Karnataka, where she originally hails from. Additionally, Rashmika was criticized for allegedly refusing to attend the Bengaluru International Film Festival, further fueling
the debate.
MLA Ravikumar Gowda Ganiga led the criticism, stating that Rashmika had “forgotten her roots” despite starting her career in the Kannada film industry with Kirik Party. His comments stirred political controversy, with BJP leaders condemning his stance and accusing him of inciting aggressive behavior. Responding to the criticism, Ravikumar defended his words, saying, “I stand by my statement. Being a Kannadiga, I am proud of my motherland and language. My remarks were not about ‘Gundagiri’ or rowdyism.”
Amid the backlash, actor-politician Ramya stepped in to support Rashmika during a panel discussion at the Bengaluru International Film Festival. “People should stop this culture of trolling. I see how Rashmika is getting attacked daily and feel bad about it. She is always at the receiving end,” Ramya stated.
While Rashmika has not directly addressed the accusations, she posted a message on social media promoting positivity. “Guysss, Try and keep positive as much as possible, Smile, we only got this one life so live it to the fullest. Be a little more kinder. Everyone is having a hard day in their own ways. Give love to others, give love to yourselves and Hydrate as much as possible and give love to your bodies,” she wrote.
Despite the backlash, Rashmika remains focused on her professional commitments, with ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, ‘Animal’, and ‘Chhaava’ keeping her in the spotlight.
